Who high intensity support suits

  • Participants who need support with a tracheostomy, ventilator, enteral feeding or complex bowel care
  • People with high physical support needs who require two workers or specific equipment
  • Participants with epilepsy or diabetes management needs that require trained staff
  • Anyone whose previous provider said their needs were too complex

How it runs

  1. 1 Clinical review firstA nurse assesses the need and writes the plan before any support worker starts.
  2. 2 Trained and signed offWorkers are trained to your specific care needs and assessed as competent, not just handed a manual.
  3. 3 Oversight that continuesClinical supervision and review stay in place while the support does.

How it is funded

High intensity supports are usually funded from Core supports, under Assistance with Daily Life, at the high intensity rate. The nursing assessment and training are funded alongside it.
