At Therapy Care, we believe every person deserves the chance to live a meaningful and independent life, no matter their challenges. For Nick and Milton, two fun-loving brothers in their late 50s, the right NDIS supports have done exactly that — opening the door to new skills, confidence, and community connection.
This is their story.
Nick and Milton are much-loved members of the Therapy Care community. Both brothers live with intellectual disabilities and, like so many families, have faced their share of ups and downs navigating life and support systems.
With the right allied health services and social support, these two beautiful souls are now achieving goals they once only dreamed about.
Nick, who has a moderate intellectual disability, is outgoing, curious, and determined to live life on his own terms. His goal? To learn how to read and write and rely less on others in his daily life.
Through his NDIS plan, Nick receives:
These therapies have helped Nick achieve incredible milestones. He can now travel independently in his local area — a huge step toward self-reliance. At home, Nick uses skills from his allied health sessions to manage daily tasks with less support and more confidence.
“Nick really wants to do more for himself — and now he can. That independence didn’t come easily, but with the right support, it’s become possible,” shares his sister Diane.
Milton, who also lives with an intellectual disability, has a warm, engaging personality and a love of social interaction. His goals focus on:
Through Therapy Care’s speech therapy, Day Program, and regular social support, Milton is learning to express himself more clearly and manage emotions in challenging situations. He’s also enjoying friendships and structured activities, giving him a sense of belonging in the community.
“The team at Therapy Care understand Milton. They work so hard to help him grow, and it shows in the way he engages with others now,” says Diane.
Nick and Milton’s sister, Diane, has been a constant in their lives. When their father passed away a few years ago, she became their sole carer — a responsibility she carries with love, but also with the reality of balancing work and life.
“I have two brothers who are intellectually challenged. My parents dedicated their lives to looking after them, and when Dad passed away, I became their only support,” she shares.
“It was then I discovered the NDIS, and in turn, Therapy Care. Their management and staff go above and beyond to ensure my brothers are assisted in every way, whether medical or social. I honestly thought I’d have to leave my job to care for them full-time, but Therapy Care stepped in and supported all of us.”
“The staff are friendly, professional, and they always try to meet Nick and Milton’s needs. I couldn’t recommend them more highly — and I do recommend them every chance I get.”
