How Holistic NDIS Support Helped Maya Thrive

At Therapy Care, we believe that the best results happen when a participant’s team is aligned. Therapists, support workers, carers, and families all working toward shared goals make the difference. Maya’s story is a beautiful example of just how powerful this can be.

🛡️ Please note: For privacy reasons, we’ve changed Maya’s name in this story. All details are true and reflect her real journey with Therapy Care. Protecting the identity of our participants is important to us — but sharing their progress is just as powerful.

Meet Maya

Maya has been part of the Therapy Care community for over three years. When she first joined us, she struggled with unfamiliar environments and new people, often feeling overwhelmed and dysregulated. Her family had previously tried supports from other providers but hadn’t found the right fit. That changed when they connected with Therapy Care.

Initially, Maya accessed social supports at home. Over time, as trust grew and her needs became clearer, her services expanded to include:

This collaborative model has had a profound impact on her development and wellbeing.

From Dysregulation to Empowerment

In the early days, even brief interactions were difficult for Maya. One of our first meetings involved her throwing a shoe in frustration; she wasn’t being difficult — she was overwhelmed and struggling to regulate her emotions.

Fast-forward to today and Maya not only feels comfortable with her Therapy Care team, she greets them with open arms and a huge smile. She’s attending high school, building friendships, and thriving in her community.

A Support Network That Works in Sync

One of the key drivers of Maya’s progress has been the cohesive nature of her support team. Because her therapy and core supports are delivered through Therapy Care, we can coordinate seamlessly behind the scenes. This enables:

  • Shared strategies across therapy and daily supports
  • Regular communication between her OT, Speech Pathologist, and Support Workers
  • Flexibility to adapt support delivery based on real-time feedback

This consistency means the skills she learns with Abbey and Hayden are reinforced daily by Kayla and Abi, across all environments.

Why Cross-Service Collaboration Matters

Maya’s story shows the real-world impact of receiving multiple supports through one provider. It means:

  • Less overwhelm for participants and families
  • Faster communication and quicker problem-solving
  • Unified goals that lead to stronger participant trust
  • Better emotional regulation and quality of life outcomes

Her mum has shared, “I don’t know where we’d be without Therapy Care.” That trust has been built through real connection, shared purpose, and teamwork.

The Outcome: Independence, Confidence, and Joy

Today, Maya:

  • Manages daily tasks with only minimal verbal prompts
  • Engages socially at school with growing confidence
  • Spends time in the community with less support
  • Demonstrates strong emotional awareness and self-regulation

This is what we aim for at Therapy Care: not just service delivery, but meaningful, life-enhancing growth.

Looking Ahead

Maya is now working towards even greater independence, including online safety, job readiness, and community-based skills. With her Therapy Care team behind her, she continues to achieve incredible milestones.
