Therapy Care Launches Virtual Supports To Keep Participants Connected

To keep our participants engaged in social, recreation and skill-based supports, we’re thrilled to announce we’re taking our supports virtual!

This pivot in service execution aligns with the latest regulations implemented by The Federal Government to stop the spread of COVID-19 and is future-proofing should we move into tighter restrictions.

From Monday, 6 April 2020, NDIS participants will have the option to receive support virtually, or in a one-on-one setting.

Andrew Zorzit, Managing Director at Therapy Care explains, “Our number one priority is maintaining the health and safety of all members in our community.

“We’ve been responsive and have evolved the way we provide support in order to continue providing services that are critical in maintaining the overall health and wellbeing of people living with disability,” says Andrew.

Andrew continues, “Our participants can now choose how they receive social, recreational and skill-based supports. We are also well-prepared to make further adjustments should government-imposed restrictions tighten further.”.

Those who opt to receive social support virtually will undergo a leisure assessment and along with group program participants, will receive a personalised ‘leisure pack’ which will be bolstered with additional resources frequently.

Those in the day program will dial into a group video conference with fellow participants. Each session, participants will be taken through a structured program with a range of activities to suit their individual preferences and goals.

“The participants in our group program have developed valuable friendships with one another, so we are thrilled that under the current circumstances we can continue to facilitate those connections” says Andrew.

Each day, the group program will include leisure, physical and recreational activities such as arts and craft games, numeracy, literacy, cooking, and mindfulness.

“After health and safety, having fun and ensuring participants are engaged throughout each session is our top priority.

“Each session participants are empowered to choose which activity they’d like to undertake for the leisure and physical components. For leisure, participants choose between ‘bake, create or relax’. For the physical part of the session, participants decide between ‘play, stretch, dance or exercise”, Andrew says.

Therapy Care has transitioned to ‘virtual supports’ following the virtual ‘telehealth’ therapy services already in place. Therapy Care offers physiotherapy, occupational therapy and exercise physiology.
